WBREDA formed in the year 1993, has a mandate to promote Renewable Energy Technologies and create an environment conducive to their commercialization through innovative projects.
West Bengal Green Energy Development Corporation Limited, under the aegis of the Department of Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources (NRES), is mandated specifically to take up all works related to renewable energy within the State, formulate and implement RE policies and projects, and coordinate with State agencies.
The main objective of the Company is to promote grid-connected renewable energy projects and various green energy sources and to develop and execute special renewable energy projects on a commercial and/or demonstration basis through PPP mode and also to ensure investment of the private sector in the Renewable Energy Sector.
